Funeral & Cremation Services

The Cooperating Funeral Directors (CFDs) in our network have contracted to provide simple cremation or burial arrangements for Memorial Society members at fixed, reduced prices. All of our CFDs will provide simple direct cremation or simple direct burial, and our Preferred Providers offer three additional arrangement plans at a low, fixed price. See the Fees For Services page for an explanation of the pricing of the five plans below.

All five Memorial Society plans include the following STANDARD SERVICES:

  • Pick up of the deceased at any hour of the day or night within a 30-mile service area*
  • Sheltering of remains/refrigeration for up to 72 hours
  • An arrangements conference with survivors
  • Completion and filing of death certificate and all permits required to comply with state and local regulations.
  • Notification to the Social Security Administration of the death

PLAN CHOICES

In addition to the standard services described above, Memorial Society members will receive the services described in one of the five plans below:

1. Direct Cremation

  • Cremation of remains
  • Basic plastic container for the cremated remains to be picked up by next of kin

2. Cremation with Memorial Service

  • Cremation of remains
  • Basic plastic container for the cremated remains to be picked up by next of kin
  • handling any flowers
  • use of chapel facilities
  • memorial service at funeral home’s chapel or a church in the service area*, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

3. Direct Burial

  • basic cloth-covered wooden casket
  • delivery of casketed remains between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to a cemetery within the local service area*

4. Simple Burial with Graveside Service

  • basic cloth-covered wooden casket
  • delivery of casketed remains between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to a cemetery within the local service area*
  • coordinating a graveside service

5. Complete Funeral

  • basic cloth-covered wooden casket
  • embalming, dressing, cosmetology, as requested
  • use of the chapel and/or viewing facilities for a 2-hour visitation
  • funeral service at the Funeral Home’s chapel or a church between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday within the local service area*
  • handling any flowers
  • delivery of casketed remains between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to a cemetery within the local service area*
  • NOTE: This plan does NOT include a procession or a graveside committal.

*Transportation beyond a 30-mile radius of the funeral home will be subject to an additional charge of $3 per mile per vehicle (one way). Meals and lodging expense for funeral home personnel in connection with non-local transportation will be at cost. Burial options do not include a cemetery plot or opening and closing of the grave. Most cemeteries are now requiring vaults, so if you choose burial, we recommend that your purchase your vault from your Funeral Director (prices vary). There will be a charge for extra Death Certificates, if requested. Any services not specified above may be arranged with the Cooperating Funeral Director at that CFD’s pre-determined prices. Price list will be furnished by Funeral Director upon request.
