Memorial Society Applications Go Online
The Memorial Society of Georgia is in the final stages of automating its application process. Now, those that choose can apply, pay, and fill out the prearrangement form online, have their entries automatically entered into the database, and forwarded to the chosen funeral director, all within one day.
There still is the option of downloading an application form, filling it out by hand, and mailing it. Those applicants will be offered the choice of having a prearrangement form emailed, or sent by post.
Board and Annual Meetings
The Annual Meeting and second quarter board meeting were both held on March 30, and featured Josh Slocum, executive director of the Funeral Consumer’s Alliance, of which we are a member. Josh gave a fascinating presentation about historic changes in American funeral practices, and about the consumer advocacy work of the FCA. He also led a workshop for board members on the previous day, in which different models of Memorial Societies were discussed..
